Places :: Austin :: Stephen F. Austin

Although Stephen F. Austin was not a native Texan, he is considered by many to be the founding father of modern day Texas.

Stephen F. Austin brought the first American families to settle into what was then Mexican Tejas. In addition to bringing new families to Texas, Mr. Austin helped the new colonists and the people of the Mexican Government talk to each other.

Through talks, they established a new infrastructure for the colony as well as a new legal system and immigration policies. Mr. Austin played such a big role in shaping Texas, the Capital City was named Austin.
