State Representatives are men and women who are elected by the people of Texas to go to the State Capitol in Austin and speak on behalf of their constituents.

A constituent is a resident of a district or member of a group represented by an elected official.

Each of the 150 members are elected for 2 year terms.

Since the Texas legislature only meets on odd number years, State Representatives have other full time jobs while not in session. Some of their other jobs include: professor, farmer, small business owner, fast food restaurant owner, attorney, pharmacist and businessman.
