Stephen F. Austin is often called the founding father of modern day Texas. This means he had a big role in creating Texas.


Stephen F. Austin brought the first American families to Texas. Back then Texas was part of Mexico and called Tejas. He also helped the new families and the Mexican Government talk to each other. With his help roads were built and laws were created.

The capitol of Texas was named Austin, because Stephen F. Austin was such an important person in Texas history.
